FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

General
Anyone experiencing emotional distress, persistent behavioural difficulties, relationship challenges, or mental health conditions can benefit. You do not need to be in crisis — many people come to therapy to better understand themselves, manage work stress, or work through a difficult life transition. Ms. Tehreem works with adults of all backgrounds, as well as children, adolescents, and couples.
Yes — all sessions are strictly confidential. Ms. Tehreem adheres to professional ethical guidelines that fully protect your privacy. The only exceptions required by professional ethics are situations involving serious risk of harm to yourself or others, which would always be handled sensitively and discussed with you wherever possible.
The first session is a relaxed assessment conversation where Ms. Tehreem listens carefully to your concerns, understands your background and history, and identifies your goals for therapy. There is no pressure to share more than you are comfortable with. By the end of the session she will outline a recommended approach and the likely number of sessions needed.
Ms. Tehreem is trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Behaviour Therapy, Individual Psychotherapy, and formal Psychological Testing. For children she also uses play-based and behavioural modification techniques. The approach is always tailored to the individual — combining evidence-based methods with compassionate, person-centred care.

Online sessions are available Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM. In-clinic sessions at Omar Hospital are available Saturdays from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
A standard session is approximately 45–60 minutes. Initial assessment sessions may run slightly longer to allow for a thorough intake. The number of sessions recommended will depend on the nature and severity of the concern — Ms. Tehreem will discuss a personalised plan after your first session.
Yes — research consistently shows that online therapy produces outcomes comparable to in-person sessions for most mental health conditions. It is particularly convenient for those with busy schedules, mobility challenges, or who are located outside Lahore. Sessions are conducted via secure video call and everything remains fully confidential.
Child Psychology
Ms. Tehreem works with children from toddler age through to late adolescence (18+). For very young children (2–5 years), sessions typically involve more parent guidance and play-based observation. For older children and teens, structured therapy and assessment tools are used. There is no minimum age — early intervention almost always leads to better long-term outcomes.
Common signs that a child may benefit from psychological assessment include: significant speech or language delays, difficulties with social interaction or making eye contact, extreme or persistent behavioural challenges (tantrums, aggression), sudden changes in mood or behaviour, struggling significantly at school despite good effort, or any concern a parent has about their child's emotional or cognitive development. Early assessment is always worthwhile — it either confirms everything is on track or identifies the right support early.
For younger children, parents are typically involved throughout the process — both during assessment and as part of the intervention plan. For older children and teens, some sessions may be one-to-one to allow the child to speak freely, with separate parent guidance sessions alongside. Ms. Tehreem will advise on the best format based on your child's age and needs.
Couples Therapy
Not necessarily. While joint sessions are often most effective, individual sessions alongside couples work can also be very productive — particularly at the start when one partner may be hesitant. Ms. Tehreem can work with one partner individually and gradually bring both into the process when both are ready. There is no pressure to do anything before you feel comfortable.
Not at all. Many couples come to therapy proactively — before marriage, during life transitions, or simply when communication has become difficult. Couples therapy is also valuable for improving intimacy, managing different parenting approaches, dealing with in-law conflict, or processing a major life event together. You do not need to be at a breaking point to benefit.
